How can Chiropractor Help you if you live in Beaverton ?
Before I begin, let me give you a little insight to where my perspective on the healing comes from. By training, I’m a scientist. I am really good at looking at issues critically and deciphering facts and problems based on factual evidence and sound theories. At the same time, I always had an interest in alternative medicine and while I lived in Seattle for 5 years, I had the chance to experience directly and learn various healing modalities such as naturopathic physician care, acupuncture, homeopathy, chiropractic in Beaverton.
Some of my knowledge comes from being the inquisitive patient, some comes from discussions with students of Bastyr College of Naturopathic medicine who I befriended while in Seattle. While in Beaverton I also took several classes on Reiki, and became a Reiki Master/Teacher and hence I have the insiders perspective on how energy healing works and what it can and can’t do.I am a strong advocate of alternative therapies in conjunction with or sometimes instead of traditional medicine. However, recently, I have been really bothered by practices of chiropractor (some not all) and I feel that there are many out there that take advantage of the general lack of understanding of how the human body works in patients to keep their businesses going.
Beaverton Chiropractor for Back Pain, Neck Pain, Sciatica, Herniated Disc …Contrary to what many people believe, there are several types of chiropractic treatment methods. Different chiropractors will specialize in different types of treatments, and not every type of back or neck pain will require the same care. To this end, chiropractors utilize several different methods to relieve pain all over the body. Because no two spinal deviations are the same, no two treatment methods are the same. Instead, chiropractors pull from a wide range of methods in order to customize a treatment plan for every patient. The benefits of chiropractic care lie in the wide range of treatments, as well as the holistic approach to medicine that examine the entire body, rather than each part of the body as an isolated piece. One type of treatment involves a manual spinal adjustment. It's important that you ONLY let your licensed chiropractor adjust your spine, because only they are trained and experienced enough to perform these types of manipulations. Letting an unlicensed person perform an adjustment can lead to serious injury. When a licensed chiropractor performs an adjustment, you will be asked to lie on a special table. Then your doctor will manually force different joints into place, and will also stretch certain muscles that may require it. While you may experience pressure at this time, almost always there is no discomfort. Your doctor will likely recommend you return to the office for regular adjustments for at least a few weeks while your spine becomes reacquainted with its proper alignment. A different type of treatment method for your back pain may include rehabilitation exercises. Your chiropractor will teach you a series of movements you can perform at home. They will recommend you perform these exercises daily in order to strengthen your core. When your core becomes weak, due to lack of exercise, your spine is forced to overcompensate. This can lead to your back becoming misaligned and can result in pain in your neck, back, and in other areas of your body. Your chiropractor may use one of these methods, or may choose a combination in order to attack the pain aggressively in order to relieve it much sooner. Beyond this, your chiropractor may utilize Electrical Muscle Stimulation, also known as EMS. EMS applies a deep penetrating electrical current to the areas in your back that are causing you pain. While it sounds intense, this type of treatment is pain-free, and many patients enjoy the sensation. The immediate stimulation can reduce inflammation and decrease pain. Talk with your doctor about all the different types of chiropractic methods that can help reduce the pain you are feeling. In doing so you can take a proactive and holistic approach to your healthcare. Working with a professional chiropractor cannot only alleviate pain throughout your back, but can also do so in other areas of your body. If you're in pain, realize it doesn't have to be that way. Talk with a chiropractor about methods of chiropractic care you can use to reduce pain in your everyday life.
What Is Chiropractic Care?Misunderstood a chiropractic doctor is probably one of the most misunderstood healthcare practitioners in the medical profession. Through the years they have been looked at askance by doubters who are full of suspicion. In times past, they have been called quacks, or worse. This is due, in part, to the public's narrow and limited view of medical treatment - being that solely of administering prescription drugs and performing surgery. It's unfortunate that the majority of people believe this is all there is to health care. There truth is there is more to health care than drugs and surgery! A great deal more! Sad to say, but even some chiropractic patients haven't a real clear understanding of what chiropractic is. And for those who have never been to a chiropractor, most are totally misinformed as to the make-up of the profession. The fact is chiropractic is the largest drug-free form of health care and the third largest form of any health care in North America. What is Chiropractic? The word "chiropractic" is a blending of the Greek words cheir (hand) and praxis (action) and means "done by hand." Chiropractic is an alternative medical system in that the practitioner takes a different approach from conventional medicine in diagnosing, classifying, and treating medical problems. Essentially, chiropractic focuses on the relationship between the body's structure - primarily that of the spine - and the body's function. Doctors of chiropractic use hands-on therapy called manipulation (or adjustment) as their core procedure. Comparable to an MD? So is the training of a chiropractor as rigorous as that of a medical doctor? The answer is a resounding, yes. Today's doctor of chiropractic receives an extensive educational background beginning with three years of pre-chiropractic study. From there they advance into a four-year course of study. A student of chiropractic spends as many hours in the study of human physiology as that of a medical doctor. Chiropractic programs require a minimum of 4,200 hours of combined classroom, laboratory, and clinical experience. The difference between the education of an MD and that of a chiropractor lies in the fact that an MD trains in pharmacology and surgical procedures and chiropractor trains in the care of the spine. Worth the Cost? Some will assert that it costs too much to go to the chiropractor. However, the opposite is true. The fact is that oftentimes when a person is treated by a chiropractic doctor for one certain symptom, the adjustments (treatments) result in a higher level of overall health and well-being. This leads to cutting back on prescription drugs, preventing the need for surgery, and slowing down the aging process. Those who benefit from chiropractic treatments look at it as an important part of their ongoing health maintenance, similar to that of regular exercise or visiting their local health spa. They now know the difference - how they felt before chiropractic treatments and how much better they feel now. A survey of patients of chiropractors in an independent physicians' association found that, when asked if they would recommend their Doctor of Chiropractic to others, 95.5% of the patients said "yes." 1A chiropractor is a whole health practitioner who is concerned not just about your symptoms, but your overall state of well-being. What your doctor of chiropractic can offer, no other doctor can. Have no doubt that a chiropractor is well trained to assist you reach your own personal optimal health.
Chiropractors Who Accept Medicare?Chiropractors are the largest doctored profession outside of the traditional medical practitioners such as traditional doctors and dentists. Some people regard chiropractic therapy as alternative medicine however it is quite popular and chiropractors generally do not agree with the therapy being termed as alternative medicine. The most common problems addressed by the therapy involve the spine and in particular deal with the back and the neck. Lower back pain is the most often treated complaint. The therapy is largely manual and is therefore drug free. The side effects are minor and usually related to the manual adjustments which last on an average for a day. Surveys show that satisfaction levels for patients treated with chiropractic therapy are high. They are higher than those for traditional medicine. Also the average rapport between a patient and a chiropractic doctor is more than an average rapport between a traditional doctor and the patient. This is probably because chiropractic therapy aims to be holistic and a good rapport with the patient is considered important. The cost of chiropractic care is usually lower than the cost for traditional medical care. However medical insurance does not always cover chiropractic therapy. However in the USA for most states insurers are required to cover it. There are not many high quality studies evaluating chiropractic therapy though for lower back pain its effectiveness is considered to be very good. For other benefits critics of chiropractic therapy say that it benefits from what is known as a "placebo response" where a patient starts to feel better just by the knowledge that the patient is being treated. Being drug free it is generally regarded as a safe therapy though like other medical practices it is not entirely devoid of risk. In some cases the manual adjustments if not done correctly can lead to complications. Another issue with the therapy is that unlike traditional medical practitioners honesty amongst chiropractors is considered to be lower than that for other doctored professions. Therefore it is important to find a good chiropractor and verify the credentials well before committing yourself to a treatment using the therapy.
